Robert Wallach, DO

Dr. Robert Wallach is a board-certified physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) with La Plata Physical Medicine. Dr. Wallach specializes in non-surgical treatment of spine, muscle, nerve, and joint conditions. As a physiatrist, his focus is on restoring function, reducing pain, and improving quality of life. He believes successful treatment starts with patient education, active participation, and a team-based approach involving therapists, coaches, and other medical specialists.

A Colorado native, Dr. Wallach grew up in Denver and earned his undergraduate degree in exercise science with honors before receiving his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a recipient of the highly competitive Health Professions Scholarship, he served in the U.S. Army, completing his PM&R residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 2004.

Dr. Wallach continued his military service at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, before relocating to Durango in 2008. He spent five years in private practice in Durango, followed by five years with New Mexico Orthopaedics, the largest orthopedic and spine group in New Mexico, before returning to serve the Four Corners region.

Dr. Wallach treats acute and chronic pain using a combination of office-based and fluoroscopically guided injections, exercise prescription, physical therapy, nutrition counseling, and patient education. He has extensive expertise in electrodiagnostic testing (EMG and nerve conduction studies) for the evaluation of nerve and muscle disorders. He also provides Botox® injections for cervical dystonia, spasticity, and migraine headaches.
