Opened in December 2004, Animas Surgical Hospital was Colorado’s first physician-owned hospital, founded with a focus on advanced surgical care and diagnostic imaging. Named for the Animas River that flows beside the campus, the hospital is located just one mile, or a five-minute drive, from downtown Durango.
