Dr. Gareth Hammond is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with Animas Orthopedic Associates. Dr. Hammond has advanced fellowship training in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and upper-extremity reconstruction. He is also board certified in orthopedic sports medicine and is the only surgeon in the Four Corners region to hold this subspecialty certification.
Dr. Hammond specializes in treating athletic injuries and arthritis, with particular expertise in shoulder, elbow, and knee surgery. His clinical focus includes arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures, robotic-assisted partial and total knee replacement, shoulder and knee resurfacing, and advanced treatment for early cartilage disease.
Dr. Hammond earned his medical degree from Georgia Health Sciences University and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at University of California, Irvine. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Southern California, where he served as a team physician for USC Athletics, the Pac-10 Basketball Tournament, and NCAA Volleyball.
Before joining Animas Orthopedic Associates, Dr. Hammond practiced in Southern California, caring for athletes as a team physician for California State University Long Beach and the Long Beach Armada Baseball Team.
