- Dr. Field Blevins is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. He maintains a special interest and expertise in sports medicine, knee and shoulder injuries, instability, and arthritis. He graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine and completed the Harvard Orthopedic Residency Program. He received sports medicine fellowship training at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado, and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, where he assisted in the care of the New York Mets and New York Giants.
Prior to moving to Durango, Dr. Blevins was an associate professor of orthopedics at the University of New Mexico (UNM) and a team physician for the UNM Lobos for six years. Dr. Blevins currently cares for team and individual athletes in the Four Corners area, is on the Fort Lewis College Cycling Board of Directors, and is an orthopedic consult at USA Cycling events.
Dr. Blevins has published more than 25 scientific articles, chapters, and reviews of knee and shoulder injuries and sports medicine topics. He enjoys cycling, skiing, running, and triathlons, in addition to being a former Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo contestant. He and his wife, Priscilla, have completed the Vail Ultra 100-Miles Mountain Bike Race twice on their tandem mountain bike.
