Insurance Questions

Q: My insurance company requires notification and prior approval before I receive treatment. Does the Animas Surgical Hospital take care of this for me?
A: In most cases, Animas Surgical Hospital and your physician will help you figure out these requirements. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance company for details.

Q: If my insurance company has a co-payment requirement when do I make that payment?
A: Co-payments are due at the time of your visit.

Q: When am I expected to pay my bill?
A: If you have insurance, your deductible fee will be due at the time of service. You will be notified when your insurance has paid your claim. At that time, payment for any remaining balance is due within 30 days of the notification.

Q: What if I don’t have insurance?
A: Animas Surgical Hospital offers a variety of discounts and payment plans. Please contact billing for details at 866-915-3475.

Q: What if I cannot pay the full amount of my bill within 30 days?
A: You should contact our billing department to arrange for a flexible payment plan.

Q: Do I have any other options if I cannot afford to pay?
A: Animas Surgical Hospital does not refuse care to anyone who requires medically necessary services. Please contact our billing department if you need financial assistance at 866-915-3475.

Q: Will I receive different bills from the hospital and my doctor, or anyone else?
A: Charges from Animas Surgical Hospital are for the facility bill only. Physician services (surgeons, Emergency Services physicians, radiologists, pathologists, anesthesiologists, etc.) each bill separately.

Q: Do I need pre-authorization for an Emergency Services visit?
A: No you do not need pre-authorization to see a doctor in the Emergency Services.

Emergency Services Billing

Q: How does Emergency Services bill??
A: Animas Surgical Hospital Emergency Services is a fully licensed emergency care facility and Emergency charges apply to all services. You will receive separate hospital and Emergency Service physician bills. You may also receive bills from a radiologist or pathologist if those services are needed. Patient care is our top priority. Our staff understands the high costs associated with an emergency visit and does their best to provide excellent quality care in a cost effective manner.

Q: What if I don’t have insurance?
A: Please call the Emergency Services billing department at 866-915-3475 x 4378. They will let you know if any discounts apply.

Q: What if I need to file secondary insurance and Medicare supplemental claims?
A: As a courtesy to our patients, Animas Surgical Hospital will file all insurance claims on your behalf. Please keep in mind that it is your responsibility to make sure we have complete and accurate insurance information. If your insurance company denies the claim, full payment for services is ultimately your responsibility.
