Patient Suites

The hospital has twelve large, private suites with full closets and spacious bathrooms stocked with plush towels, bathrobes and specialty bath products. All suites, designed for comfort and safety, are non-smoking with windows that open to a view of the Animas River. Each suite is equipped with patient-controlled lighting and temperature, internet, access, telephone, and a flat screen television.

Visiting Hours

Patients are encouraged to have family/visitors with them during their surgical stay. We offer visiting hour guidelines to provide patients the proper rest and recovery they need. However, visiting hours are customized to meet each patient’s needs.

Overnight Guests

One guest is welcome to spend the night with our patient. If accommodations are required for additional guests, the staff will be pleased to offer hotel recommendations. View a list of local hotels.

Smoking Policy

Animas Surgical Hospital is a smoke-free facility and strictly adheres to the Colorado Clean Air Act. As a healthcare institution, we recognize the hazards of smoking and enforce a “no smoking policy” throughout our facility. We do not permit smoking inside or near any entrances to the hospital. For your health and the health of others, smoking is only permitted outside of the hospital in designated smoking areas.

Inpatient Meals

Custom meals from a gourmet menu are prepared by an excellent local caterer. You order your meals from a menu tailored to any specific dietary guidelines. Our individually prepared meals are made from the finest ingredients and are attractively presented. All meal selections have been approved by our registered dietician.

Parking

Complimentary parking is available in front of the hospital and in our underground garage.

Food

For those who are waiting at the hospital, there are complimentary pastries, fruit, and coffee/tea/juices available in the lobby. In addition, Rivergate Pharmacy, located in the Rivergate Medical Office Building, offers breakfast burritos, sandwiches, salads, and other items for purchase. Shopping, Hotel Accommodations, Recreational Activities

Animas Surgical Hospital is the closest hospital to downtown Durango. From the hospital, it is a pleasant 1 mile walk or bike ride to town along the Animas River Trail or a 5 minute drive to hotels, shops, and restaurants. View a list of nearby hotels and restaurants. Durango and surrounding areas are famous for exceptional outdoor recreation such as kayaking and rafting, fly fishing, mountain and road biking, hiking, and skiing. It is also home to Fort Lewis College. See www.durango.org for details of upcoming community events and activities.
